Participating Category

EcoPartner 

Enterprises that have implemented at least 1 environmental project between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018 and submitted the environmental project form will be granted the EcoPartner certificate and logo.

EcoChallenger 

Enterprises that have implemented 3 environmental projects or more between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018 and completed the on-site assessment will be granted the EcoChallenger certificate and logo. They are also eligible to compete for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards. For SME applicants, they are eligible to compete for the SME Award.

Belt and Road Environmental Leadership Recognition Award

One of the EcoChallangers will be granted the Belt and Road Environmental Leadership Recognition Award for its outstanding environmental performance and green initiatives that benefit countries along the Belt and Road#.

Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Environmental Leadership Recognition Award

One of the EcoChallengers will be granted the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Environmental Leadership Recognition Award for its projects that improve the ecological environment of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area’s^ city cluster from different perspectives such as resources management, environmental protection, industrial structure, production and lifestyle, and those that are dedicated to driving greener and low-carbon development.
Enterprises that have applied for the Programme for 3 or 5 consecutive years will be granted the 3 Years+ or 5 Years+ EcoPioneer logo. All participating enterprises and winners will be entitled to use the respective logo on their letterheads, business cards and promotion materials with 1-year entitlement period.

  • The definition of SME under the Awards:
    • Hong Kong/Macao: A manufacturing business which employs fewer than 100 persons in Hong Kong/Macao; or a non-manufacturing business which employs fewer than 50 persons in Hong Kong/Macao.
    • The Mainland China: A manufacturing business which employs fewer than 500 persons in the Mainland China; or a non-manufacturing business which employs fewer than 250 persons in the Mainland China.
    • Its parent company (if applicable) and itself should NOT be a listed company.
    • The “number of persons employed” includes individual proprietors, partners and shareholders who are actively engaged in the work of the company; and paid employees of the company, including full-time or part-time personnel directly paid by the company, both permanent and temporary, at the time of submitting the application.
    • If resource, such as fund, material or manpower, from mother company has been contributed to applicant’s environmental project, number of employees of mother company shall also be counted.
    • As of 31 December 2018.
  • The "Belt" refers to economic and overland transport links across China to Central Asia and Europe while the "Road" is a network of maritime routes connecting regions through Chinese sea ports.   • “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area” is the development strategy brought forward by Premier Li Keqiang in 2017 to foster the development of a city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, give full play to the distinctive strengths of Hong Kong and Macao, and elevate their positions and roles in China’s economic development. The city cluster encompasses Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Zhaoqing, Huizhou and Jiangmen. The parent company, the factory or branch company is eligible to participate in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Environmental Leadership Recognition Award.

Eligibility

Any enterprises with a valid business registration (Hong Kong) or Certificate of Taxation Registration (Pan PRD region) in Hong Kong or the Pan PRD region+ are eligible to apply. Participating enterprises are required to have at least 1 environmental project implemented between 1 January and 31 December 2018.

 

+ The Pan PRD region includes Macao, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.

Judging Criteria

Environmental Project worth 85% of the total score and Community Participation and Promotion in Environmental Protection worth 15% of the total score. Details as below:

Fee

  • No application fee is required for EcoParnter participants.
  • An assessment fee of HK$4,000 is payable by EcoChallenger applicants.

Subsidy on Assessment Fee

A subsidy will be granted to enterprises that meet the following criteria and submit their applications during the early bird period (29 May to 31 August 2019):

  • A subsidy of HK$4,000 will be granted to the first 40 first-time applicants participating in EcoChallenger
  • A subsidy of HK$2,000 will be granted to the first 80 enterprises participating in EcoChallenger

For SME applicants:

  • A subsidy of HK$4,000 will also be granted to the first 10 first-time SME* applicants participating in EcoChallenger

In case of any disputes in the subsidy for assessment fee, all decisions of the organiser shall be final. The assessment fee should first be settled with the assessment organisation before the completion of assessment. For on-site assessment that takes place in the Mainland China, the incurred transportation and accommodation expenses should be borne by the enterprise. If the assessment period exceeds one day, the enterprise should bear the additional assessment fee.
