FHKI "BOCHK Corporate Low-Carbon Environmental Leadership Awards 2022 Prize Presentation cum 2023 Launching Ceremony"

The Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) successfully hosted the "BOCHK Corporate Low-Carbon Environmental Leadership Awards 2022 Prize Presentation cum 2023 Launching Ceremony" on August 8, 2023, at the HKCEC. We were privileged to have Ms Diane Wong, JP, Acting Secretary for Environment and Ecology, as our esteemed Guest of Honour. In the company of Mr Anthony Lam, Executive Deputy Chairman of FHKI, Xu Hai-feng, Deputy Chief Executive of the Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK), and other representatives from FHKI and BOCHK, Ms Wong bestowed the 2022 Awards upon the deserving winners and inaugurated the 2023 Awards.
The "BOCHK Corporate Low-Carbon Environmental Leadership Awards," an initiative organised by FHKI and sponsored by BOCHK, is designed to encourage environmental best practices among manufacturing, services, and property management enterprises in Hong Kong and the Pan-Pearl River Delta. The 2022 Awards saw 841 enterprises participating, with a total of 22 awards, including Gold, Silver, Bronze, and SME Awards for both the Manufacturing and Services Sectors being presented. Special recognition was accorded under the "Belt and Road Environmental Leadership Recognition Award," "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Environmental Leadership Recognition Award," "Sustainable Business Award," and the newly introduced "Property Management Sector Awards" and "Anti-Epidemic Caring Award."

Highlights of BOCHK Corporate Low-Carbon Environmental Leadership Awards 2022：
⭐️ 841 enterprises participated in the Awards
⭐️ Over 264 enterprises joined the Awards for the first time
⭐️ Over 2,870 green projects were accomplished by participating enterprises
- 161 million kWh of electricity was saved (equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 23,670 Hong Kong households)
- More than 12 million cubic meters of water usage was saved (equivalent to the water consumption of more than 4,800 Olympic-sized swimming pools)
- Over 1.02 million tonnes of waste disposal was reduced (equivalent to the weight of over 187,800 African elephants)
- More than 910,000 tonnes of materials were recycled (equivalent to the net weight of over 61,000 double-decker buses)
- Over 142,000 tonnes of air emissions was reduced (equivalent to the annual CO2 absorbed by 11.9 million trees
BOCHK Corporate Low-Carbon Environmental Leadership Awards 2023:
To encourage more small and medium-sized enterprises (“SMEs”) in joining the green transformation, the Awards 2023 will include two "Best SME Award" and two "SME Merit Award." Each award will come with a cash prize of HK$20,000 and HK$10,000 respectively. In addition, the "Belt and Road Environmental Leadership Recognition Award" and the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Environmental Leadership Recognition Award" will also offer cash prizes of HK$10,000 each.
Registration for the Awards 2023 is now open until 30 November 2023! The first 30 SME enterprises and the first 20 FHKI members to register for the "EcoChallenger" will be granted a full subsidy of HK$4,500 for the assessment fee.
